Dissolving the IRA,March 2004-August 2005

 In March 2004 I suggested changes to the IRA's Constitution and Standing Orders with the aim of dissolving the IRA and destroying the IRA's war materiel.

I addressed the issue as one of the necessity for peace and political agreement despite the bizarre behaviour of the police and British Army.

I approached L.S. in his office and called for a summoning of an Army Convention.

I wanted a fundamental left-orientation and a blowing off of the cobwebs. Therefore the equation of communism and fascism in Standing Orders was removed and the question of war materiel and the immanent certainty of its complete destruction was left to the discretion of the Army Council on a simple majority vote.

The question of the dissolution of the IRA was likewise reserved to the Army Council on a simple majority vote.

In May 2005,my guns-I was the only legitimate owner of the 'Libyan' guns  as I pointed out to L. since "I had worked for them. You don't give me anything belonging to you ,so I'll decide,not you, what happens to my property and I want them destroyed"-were dealt with according to my wishes.

Why the change of heart?

I had had enough of the IRA and was one of the real architects of the half-cocked,half-shod,shabby so-called Good Friday Agreement/ Belfast Agreement.
