The killing of Lennie Murphy, November 1982,Ligoniel,North Belfast
On returning from Leitrim in August 1982 I discussed a Prospectus for Intelligence Operations which I submitted to Bernie O Connor,the Director of Intelligence of the Fermanagh Brigade,the following March. I used the Zimmer Machine (the 'Enigma' machine) encoding machine method of dichotomous ambiguity by uniting two groups of people with different and competing mindsets, namely men of knowledge and men of action to deal with a UVF cutthroat,Lennie Murphy. The two parts of this mechanism,one IRA 'intelligence' unit to track his movements and the other,an operations unit, to kill him were united in a harmony to get rid of this sectarian killer. Laughin' Lennie was killed soon after his release from prison. His 'heroics' were probably the results of poisoning by medical bigots at the City Hospital,Belfast such was sectarian doctors' manipulation of loyalist gangsters for politically gratuitous satisfaction.
