 The only thing a foreign aggressor such as an American soldier in Vietnam understands is an armed man just as the British Army on the streets of Belfast and Derry had to be brought to the realisation that if they transgressed civilians rights,they would be repelled by force.

Why,so?

Vietnam had no poliçe force to arrest them,and,in the case of the British Army,they were under no effective legal restraints from the duly-appointed authorities. Therefore,we call both American colonisers and English imperialists,fascist aggressors and illegal combatants and foreign agents.

The government appointed arbiter on police-medical murder gangs,the Police Ombudsman is a pathetic nuisance and an imbecile when it comes to reporting policemen to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In a conflict zone- has the North ever been anything else since its very foundation, we must ask ourselves-an armed man must be arrested and disarmed. Where armed disturbances develop into a military insurrection,then that person must be detained until a peace agreement is signed and hostilities cease. 

An armed response to violence resolves nothing since it inspires even more insurgent activity. 

The reason Britain was fundamentally stable between 1848 and the present was that it was a society with a parliamentary democracy and basic health and social provision. Even the workhouses, government workshops and religious institutions and organisations such as the Salvation Army and Catholic Church provided sustenance and vitals for the poor. Most importantly of all, Britain had a functioning structured police force under some form of political control.

In the North of Ireland you who desire change,forget guff about capitalism, concentrate on aiming your barbs at police brutality wherever it occurs. It is ultimately the police-if there are none,a military junta- who give soldiers their orders, something every lawyer and aspiring lawyer knows.
