Briefing with Pat Doherty, August 1988.The escalation of IRA activities from September 1988 to September 1991. "The final offensive has begun",Sunday Tribune
I was in the course of my earlier involvement with the IRA an advocate of "open warfare" and giving your opponent a "fair chance to defend himself".
Because of thuggery which I experienced at the hands of the British Army in England on building sites,I became an advocate of "all categories of target are on the menu " in my final briefings. This was the reason, under my command, the IRA went on the rampage from September 1988.
Sadly,it may well have been tactical information which I supplied which led to the Ballygawley and Teebane tragedies and a grudge against the Royal Marines which led to the Deal bomb attack in England.
I and the IRA reciprocated British Army thuggery and the criminal blacklistting activities of the RUC.
