The IRA's development of a grenade launcher. Sion Mills, September 1984

In association with Bernie O Connor and Michael Mc Manus in March 1983,I suggested that we establish an ordnance unit because RPG-7 rockets passed through the Makrolon shielding on RUC Landrover vehicles without detonation.

I  suggested that we manufacture a 'spigot' or (adapted version of) a rifle device which can be used to fire a grenade over police stations' curtain wire to "keep them on their toes" and afford them "no rest day or night".

I involved a mechanical engineer from Ederney, Fermanagh, Maurice Campbell in this enterprise and briefed him indirectly concerning what I had in mind.

In September 1984 the 'PRIG' cost a policeman's life at Sion Mills.
